Composed of 5 mayors, 1 director, 1 secretary, 1 full-time staff, and the uproar of the regional citizens, the Mattawa Bonfield Economic Development Corporation has been a pushing force to some recent restructuring of the region. Each day the corporation is working with different organizations and businesses to provide an organized approach to the rejuvenation of Mattawa Voyageur Country. Mattawa Voyageur Country is excited to announce the recent developments of the area:
1. A new state of the art hospital has been built in Mattawa.
2. The Mattawa Bonfield Chamber of Commerce has been reborn and is ready for new business.
3. Properties are selling, houses are selling, businesses are opening, infrastructure is being repaired, and everyone is beginning to think positive about what the region has to offer not only for its current residents, but for the newcomer to the region.
4. The Bonfield Agridome's name has been changed to the Bonfield Community Centre and has recently reopened to the public for functions after a complete renovation a new board of directors.
5. Our region is now equipped with High Speed Wireless Internet Service in those areas that are unavailable for regular DSL use. 6. Freshly groomed, nationally acclaimed, ATV, Multi-Use Trail System that ecompasses the entire region, the official launch site of the Suzuki KingQuad in 2006, and available to anyone looking to enjoy a day on the trails and in the mud!
